Heroes take journeys, confront dragons, and discover the treasure of their true selves.
--Carol Lynn Pearson

Nearly 200 heroes journeyed to Lawrence in July to discover the treasures of the 2007 International SIM Conference. From keynote speaker Patricia Alexander to Don Deshler's closing remarks about the future of SIM, the three-day treasure hunt flew by, with every participant sure to uncover a gem or two worth keeping.

Among the glitter and gold of conference sessions, we also honored three shining stars during our annual awards ceremony:

  • Anita Friede, a superb leader in the Network and a tireless advocate for struggling learners, received the SIM Leadership Award. Read her story and watch the video here.
  • Riverbank High School in Riverbank, Calif., which has embraced the work of the Center and become an outstanding example for all who desire improved outcomes for schools and students, received the SIM Impact Award. Read Riverbank's story and watch the video here.
  • Randy Sprick, who embodies the generosity and collaborative nature valued by the Center, received the Gordon R. Alley Partnership Award. Read his story and watch the video here.
