About the conference

This year’s conference will have a definite international flavor. Several of the presenters work and live in England and Australia.

Dr. Peter Clough is a senior lecturer at the University of Hull. His main research interests are in performance in high pressure environments. He is co-developer of the mental toughness model and measure, which was published in 2003. Since that time, Peter has worked to take the concept and the measure into a wide range of applications. Chief amongst these has been its application into the world of education for staff development and for student development at all levels. Peter is now recognized as one of the leading authorities on mental toughness globally.

Kieran Gordon is the CEO of a registered charity in Liverpool, England, which provides careers advice, guidance, and transition support to teenagers and adults in the labor market. His topic will focus on career development coaching and the ways in which people can be helped to plan career steps and changes and to understand how their own conditioning can be developed to become more self-reliant and in control. He has developed “mental toughness” coping skills as a means of developing resilience in people.

Suzy Green is a clinical and coaching psychologist based in Sydney, Australia. She is a leader in the complementary fields of Coaching Psychology and Positive Psychology, having conducted a world-first study on evidence-based coaching as an Applied Positive Psychology.

Liz Hall lives in Brighton, England, and has been a journalist/writer/editor for 24 years. She is working on a book on mindful coaching. Her work is informed by mindfulness, somatics, transpersonal coaching, and cognitive behavioral coaching. At the conference, her topic will focus on mindfulness in coaching for teachers and pupils.

Doug Strycharczyk founded AQR, which has evolved into one of the world’s leading-edge international test publishers and business consultancies. AQR now works in secondary and higher education, developing programs and approaches that attend to academic performance, well-being/satisfaction, employability, retentions, and transition.
